Bacteriostatic water ("bac water") is sterile, distilled water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. It is primarily used to dilute or reconstitute medications for injections. The preservative inhibits bacterial growth, allowing the same vial to be used for multiple doses over 28 days.
